[05 Feb 2026] LTA News Release - Two-Year Trial to Suspend Vehicle Parking Certificate Requirement for Trailers Starts 6-Feb-26

Tuesday, 10 February 2026

🚨Major Milestone for the Haulage Industry! 🚛 ✨

We are pleased to share that the Land Transport Authority (LTA) has officially announced a two-year suspension of the Vehicle Parking Certificate (VPC) requirement for trailers, effective 6 February 2026 to 5 February 2028.

This trial was initiated in consultation with STA, following industry feedback from heavy vehicle and trailer owners.

Over the past months, STA has engaged LTA through numerous discussions, data submissions, and constructive dialogue to highlight the operational pressures faced by the industry. We are encouraged to see a responsive and pragmatic approach taken to address these concerns.

What this means:
• No VPC required for trailers during the trial period
• Heavy Vehicles (HVs) still require valid VPCs
• Potential freeing up of parking lots for HVs
• Responsible parking and enforcement remain in place

This development reflects the value of collaboration between industry, stakeholders and agencies. 🤝

We would like to thank LTA for its openness and willingness to review the framework, and our members for your trust, patience, and unified feedback which strengthened our collective voice.

STA remains committed to working closely with the agencies to ensure that this trial benefits the industry while maintaining orderly and responsible operations.
